Foam roller

Recovery is just as essential for progress as the training itself. Foam rollers, made from dense EVA foam, offer an effective way to self-massage and improve flexibility, which is key for anyone involved in combat sports. Their regular use helps release muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and accelerate recovery processes after intense boxing, Muay Thai, or MMA training.

Using a foam roller 30-45 cm in length is ideal for targeted treatment of specific muscle groups, while larger sizes (60-90 cm) are suitable for overall stretching and massage of the back and limbs. For greater intensity and depth of massage, choose models with a textured surface. If you are a lighter fighter (under 70 kg) or are looking for a softer massage, medium-density foam rollers are an excellent choice. For heavier athletes (over 90 kg) or for those who need stronger pressure, we recommend high-density models.

Why you need a foam roller

After a tough leg workout, your quadriceps are burning. You feel them tight, almost cramped. Or maybe you have lower back pain from sitting too much. This is where the foam roller comes in – to help you relax those muscles, improve blood flow, and recover faster. I also use it for warm-ups before training to "wake up" the muscles. Myofascial release is key to long-term health.

How I choose

For me, density is the most important factor. For beginners, I always recommend a soft or medium-firm foam roller. Generally, you start with a softer one, then move to a firmer one. My personal one is firm, with a textured "grid" surface. Its length is 33 cm, and its diameter is 14 cm. The material is compressed EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) foam. I choose it shorter to be convenient for travel. For clients without experience, I recommend longer ones – around 60-90 cm, for easier balancing. It's important that it's dense so it doesn't deform quickly. Mine last for years, despite hundreds of uses.

What we stock

In the store, we stock several main types of foam rollers because I know everyone is looking for something different. We have smooth models with different densities. They are ideal for full-body use and for beginners. For more advanced users and for targeted impact, we offer foam rollers with a "grid" texture. These are more aggressive but also more effective for breaking down knots. Our brand SZ Sport offers a quality foam roller with a hard core and a textured outer part. It is extremely durable and effective for deep myofascial release. We also have softer options for those with sensitivity. We always look at the quality of the material so that they don't wear out quickly. Ultimately, customers are looking for something that will serve them for a long time.

A tip from me

Don't neglect your IT band (ilio-tibial tract). The pain there is persistent. With a few minutes of work with a foam roller, you can save yourself a lot of discomfort. Do it regularly and you will see results. Even 5-10 minutes a day make a huge difference in recovery.
