Rash Guards

A rash guard is a compression sports shirt with antibacterial fabric that protects the skin from friction, infections, and abrasions during contact sports.

What is a rash guard and why do you need one?

The rash guard originated from surfing, where it served to protect against rashes caused by friction with the board (rash = skin irritation, guard = protection). Today, it is an essential piece of equipment for every MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai fighter, and CrossFit athlete.

Benefits of wearing a rash guard

Long or short sleeve?

Long sleeve: essential for BJJ, grappling, and no-gi training — protects arms from burns. Also recommended for cold gyms.

Short sleeve: better ventilation — for boxing, Muay Thai, CrossFit, and cardio. More comfortable in hot weather.

How to choose the right size

A rash guard should fit snugly like a second skin — NOT loosely. If it hangs, you lose the compression effect and the fabric can get caught during grappling. Always measure according to the manufacturer's size chart — not your standard clothing size.

Rash guard care

Wash after every workout at 30°C, inside out. Do not use fabric softener — it clogs the micropores. Dry on a hanger, never in a dryer. With proper care, it lasts 200+ washes.
