Over 70% of active athletes use shakers to prepare nutritional supplements. These accessories are indispensable for precise dosing and mixing of proteins, creatine, BCAA, and other supplements. Typically with a volume between 400 ml and 800 ml, they allow easy dissolution of powdered substances, ensuring a homogeneous mixture without lumps. Made from BPA-free plastic or stainless steel, they guarantee safety and durability. Some models include additional compartments for tablets or capsules, as well as grids or balls for better mixing. Choosing the right accessory is important for effective hydration and nutrient intake before, during, and after training.
How to choose
- Material: Prefer BPA-free plastic or stainless steel for durability and safety. Stainless steel maintains temperature longer.
- Volume: For protein shakes, 500-700 ml is usually sufficient. For larger doses or for water during training, choose 800 ml or more.
- Mixing mechanism: Grids (sieves) are effective for breaking up lumps. Metal balls also work great, especially with thicker mixtures.
- Additional compartments: Some models offer attachments for storing powder or tablets, which is convenient when traveling.
- Lid and seal: Make sure the lid closes tightly to prevent leakage. Check for leaks before first use.
Common mistakes
- Insufficient cleaning: Protein residues can create an unpleasant odor and become a breeding ground for bacteria. Wash immediately after use, especially if it contains dairy products.
- Overfilling: Overfilling can lead to leakage when shaking. Leave a little air for better mixing.
- Using hot liquids: Most plastic models are not designed for hot liquids, as this can deform the plastic or release unwanted substances. Use lukewarm or cold liquids.
- Improper storage: Store in a dry and ventilated place to avoid mold growth.
- Using abrasive cleaners: They can scratch the surface and damage the material. Use a soft sponge and a gentle detergent.
